We are so happy to share with you the June WPIC Planner of the Month: Elaine Adelson, WPICC who is the Founder and Managing Director of ADV Boutique Event Venue.
Elaine’s passion for creating unforgettable celebrations, combined with her eye for detail and dedication to exceptional client experiences, has made her a standout within the wedding and events industry. Through creativity, professionalism, and heart, she continues to inspire both couples and fellow planners alike.
Tell us about your background. What brought you to the World of Weddings?
Before opening my own event space, I spent over 10 years in the corporate world, most recently working as an International Marketing Project Manager at Microsoft and as a Sales Category Analyst at Nestlé. With a background in business development and a Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, I eventually felt inspired to combine my professional experience with my passion for design, aesthetics, and creating meaningful experiences for others.
Today, I’m proud to lead a team that shares my commitment to exemplary customer service and thoughtful event execution. Over the past 7 years, we’ve had the privilege of hosting and planning more than 800 events, each one centered around creating memorable experiences for our clients and their guests.
The journey has not been without challenges. Navigating a pandemic, a delayed venue relocation, and a difficult economic climate tested every part of the business and my resilience as an entrepreneur. However, staying connected to why I started and the people I have the honour of serving kept me grounded and motivated through it all.
At my core, I’m a people person. Helping others celebrate some of life’s most meaningful and monumental moments in a beautiful, intentional, and stress-free way is truly what inspires me every day.
Event design gave me the opportunity to express my creativity in a meaningful way. As I worked with clients across the GTA, I noticed that many people felt overwhelmed trying to plan smaller, more intimate events while still wanting every detail to feel special and elevated. That inspired me to create a venue concept focused on convenience, beauty, and reducing the stress that often comes with event planning.
I opened my first event space just one year before COVID. During the pandemic, we quickly pivoted and became home to many micro weddings, helping couples celebrate important milestones in a more intimate and manageable setting. The experience reinforced the importance of creating a space that felt both personal and effortless for clients. Today, we’ve grown into a larger and more refined venue where we continue to offer micro weddings and intimate celebrations while staying true to the same convenient, detail-focused concept that inspired the beginning of our venue journey.
What sets your venue apart from others in the Etobicoke/Toronto market?
What sets our venue apart is the combination of our boutique-style atmosphere, in-house modern décor options, and personalized planning support. Unlike traditional large banquet halls, our venue was intentionally designed to create a more intimate and elevated experience for smaller celebrations.
We offer a wide variety of modern décor designs along with event planning services to help simplify the process for our clients. Our dedicated WPIC-certified wedding coordinators work closely with couples and hosts to assist with both planning and execution, allowing clients to enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed. Our approach focuses on convenience, customization, and creating memorable experiences in a stylish space that feels warm, personal, and refined.
What are some of the most common challenges couples face when choosing a venue, and how do you help guide them?
One of the most common challenges couples face when choosing a venue is balancing their vision, budget, and guest experience all at once. We help simplify that process by providing detailed and comprehensive package options that allow couples to prioritize the event elements that matter most to them. Every couple values different aspects of their wedding experience, whether it’s décor, entertainment, dining, photography, or overall ambiance, and our approach allows flexibility while still creating a cohesive and elevated event.
How do you approach working with wedding planners and vendor teams to ensure a seamless experience for clients?
Being in the wedding and events industry for over 7 years has allowed us to build a strong network of trusted vendor partners who align with our service standards and client experience goals. We understand that every couple has different preferences, styles, and cultural traditions, so we carefully connect clients with vendors that best suit their vision and needs.
We believe that collaboration and communication are key to creating a seamless experience. Our team works closely with wedding planners, coordinators, and vendor teams throughout the planning process to ensure everyone is aligned on timelines, logistics, and event expectations.
We also provide flexibility and support to our preferred vendor partners during setup and execution, helping create an efficient and stress-free environment behind the scenes. Our goal is always to ensure that both the vendor team and the clients feel supported so the event experience feels smooth, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone involved.
What advice would you give to couples who are just starting their venue search?
One of the best things couples can do before starting their venue search is create a list of priorities for the guest experience they want to create. Having a clear vision of what matters most to you. Whether it’s the atmosphere, food experience, entertainment, décor, convenience, or intimacy of the celebration – this will help you better evaluate and envision each venue during your visits. It’s also important to ask questions about catering policies and vendor flexibility early in the process, especially if you have specific cultural cuisines or preferred caterers in mind. Some venues have restrictions that may impact your overall vision or guest experience. Most importantly, try to choose a venue that not only fits your practical needs, but also feels aligned with the overall feeling and energy you want your guests to experience on your wedding day.
Elaine’s commitment to elevating every event she touches is a true reflection of the professionalism and excellence we celebrate within the WPIC community. We are proud to recognize her as our June Planner of the Month and cannot wait to see what she continues to accomplish. Congratulations, Elaine!
