Asia and Sani’s original wedding date was set for July 4th, but like most 2020 couples they had to re-plan due to COVID-19. Instead of postponing their celebration to a hopeful “safe date” in the unknown future, they sat down (virtually) with their wedding planner to re-evaluate.
As new micro wedding plans evolved, Perrier Planning was by their side every step of the way to make sure that both eco-friendly measures and covid precaution plans were put into place. Eco-friendly measures included a waste management plan, a zero-waste menu (drawn on a chalkboard), and recycled decor items. Covid precautions included a
postcard guest book (to prevent guests from all signing one book), sanitization stations, and a sit-down cocktail hour plan with people seated in their respective bubbles. The wedding was also set to be covered over zoom for guests in other countries, specifically the US and Poland.
Their micro wedding began at 3 pm on August 30, 2020. With a small group of close family members and friends sitting nearby, they tied the knot (literally they did a rope tying ceremony because they both love to rock climb). The ceremony included a quote from Harry Potter and only a few tears. After the papers were signed Asia and Sani danced down the aisle to “You Make My Dream Come True” by Hall & Oates.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a seated cocktail hour on an outside patio overlooking a garden courtyard. With beer made on-site at the brewery and delicious dessert trios, you could tell that guests were so happy to finally be out of the house celebrating after a summer of social isolation.
Asia and Sani’s love of travel were woven throughout the whole micro celebration – the strings of hearts attached to their copper arch were cut from old maps and they asked guests to sign an old postcard (collected by Asia’s grandmother) instead of writing in a traditional guestbook.
This micro wedding was a sign of love and commitment in challenging times. Never stop celebrating, and never stop drinking beer.
