Gigantic golden wings set against the CN Tower. Shimmery iridescent tables covered in opulent china, crystal and gold. Cotton candy-topped cocktails, and smoke bombs in downtown Toronto.
This Elegant and Whimsical styled shoot was a part of WPIC’s “The Art & Execution of Styled Shoots” course right in the heart of Toronto at the amazing Vantage Venues on the 27th Floor of 150 King Street W. On the second day students were divided in to two groups to work on a styled shoot. This is what my group, “Team Unicorn,” executed.

This lovely styled shoot was actually a second wedding for our couple, Rachel and Jason. I married them in a beautiful, intimate Microwedding exactly one week before! The first wedding was for their family and friends, so the couple was thrilled to have a completely different wedding just for them.
The ceremony took place in front of giant golden wings set against the CN Tower as a backdrop. The white aisle runner was lined by colourful floral arrangements that the students created the day before under the tutelage of Kimberly from Envision Floral Studio (Kimberly created all of the other florals featured as well). Elegant candles also lined the aisle. Gold and white Louis Chairs added to the luxurious elegance of the space.
We later set up the head table against the windows over looking the Toronto waterfront and the CN Tower, with the giant gold wings. The tables were topped with iridescent linens that changed from green, to purple, to blue.
Our theme was carried through with whimsical, dreamy florals in those same colours and gorgeous place settings with blue and pink alternating china and topped with a dome of macarons. Gorgeous glassware continued the whimsically elegant feeling with each place setting having pink, blue, purple and gold-rimmed crystal. The china sat atop mirrored charger plates and was flanked by gold utensils.
We also had round guest tables with the same design.
The chef at Vantage Venues created mouth watering dishes.
Rachel and Jason toasted their new union by sipping on champagne and cotton candy cocktails. These were a real favourite of Rachel’s (the entire team really enjoyed them!)
Our team then went outside to take photos in the heart of downtown, to add to the whimsy we set off a smoke bomb, again with the CN tower at their backs.
Our team of wedding planners dubbed ourselves “Team Unicorn” because of the soft colours and dreamy esthetics of the shoot. It was such a wonderful day and everything flowed so smoothly with such a terrific group of wedding professionals!
