We at WPIC Inc. (and many others) have been preaching for years about giving proper credit to your team of wedding pros when sharing wedding photos on social media and blogs. Most wedding pros do. A new, and very odd new situation is on the rise. I am so shocked and surprised about this one.
Take a scroll through Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and look at the credits for beautiful wedding posts. How many wedding pros do you see that are not giving credit to the couple who made it all happen in the first place?
This post is meant for anyone in the wedding industry such as wedding planners, venues, photographers, stationers, florists, cake designers, decorators, DJ’s, travel agents, etc.
If your couple did not hire you to work with them in whatever capacity you work in, there would be no photos. They have hired you, signed a contract and trusted you to make their wedding the best it can possibly be. Your couples are your clients. The clients are the ones who have paid for every aspect of the wedding. How can you possibly leave out the people who gave you this opportunity? Whether it is just their initials or their first names they should absolutely be mentioned.

I do agree that we should give credit to all involved. However many couples in the last few years have requested that their names not be mentioned or to be in any pictures. This makes it very difficult to publish photos or advertise an event.
People want to see your work, but you must go by your clients wishes.

Hi Colleen, if your couple does not want to be mentioned, then that goes without saying that you don’t do it.
However, as I mention in the article for the majority who do but don’t want to be tagged, there are ways to add them without giving away their privacy such as their first initials or first names, only.
A discussion about this with your couple is always a good idea!
