Wedding Professionals need to wear a lot of hats. Not only do they need to be experts in their field, but they also need to run a business and market that business effectively in order to attract clients. There are a lot of ways Wedding Professionals can market themselves to potential clients and it is so important to utilize both paid and unpaid marketing effectively. One extremely effective way to market yourself and your business to potential clients is by Blogging. It is essentially free, as it only costs you your time. But the Return on Investment for that time is amazing.
Consistent, regular blogging boosts your SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This means that when potential clients are searching for a wedding professional that offers your services, you will come up in the search before your competitors do. You should be providing fresh and updated content on your website at least once per month in order to boost your SEO, and blogging is the perfect way to achieve that.
Blogging is also a way for you to explain what it is that you do, what makes you special, and showcase your skills, expertise, and work, without sounding braggy. The blog speaks for you, so you can stay humble.
It’s not enough to blog for the sake of blogging, you also need to be strategic with your blog posts and utilize your blog as the marketing tool it is.
Strategies for Effective Blogging:
Content
Search engines prefer content (written words) over photos, so your blog posts should not be all photos with a few words. They should be content-rich, information articles. Think of your Blog like your own on-line magazine and write 300 word or more, interest pieces.
Keywords
When search engines are going through content, they are looking for keywords, so include keywords that your potential clients would be searching for. Think of searched your clients would be doing and write articles based on those searches. For example: Children at Weddings, How to Write Wedding Vows, Creating a Seating Chart, What Does a Wedding Planner Do, Wedding Planner or Wedding Coordinator, How to Propose to Your Bridesmaids, Who Pays for What, Wedding Trends, etc.
Consistency
Do not add a Blog to your website if you are not going to be consistent with it. Having a Blog that you do not update regularly can hurt you more than it helps you by making potential client think are: too busy, don’t follow-through, or out of business. Add a new Blog post at least every week, better yet, twice per week, but most definitely not less than once per month. You can batch-write your posts when inspiration hits, and then schedule to post on a regular schedule. Most experts agree Monday and Thursdays are the best days to post new blog articles.
Outbound Links
Search Engines like to see outbound links in Blog posts, so be sure to sprinkle some in. Pro tip: Join a few affiliate programs, so when you share that post about a great wedding favor, or highlight your Emergency Kit, you can make a little money off that plug.
In conclusion, the only negatives about adding a blog to your website is the time and coming up with inspiration for those articles. The positives far outweigh the negatives (improved SEO, establishing expertise and authority, showcasing your work and skills, possible monetization.) So don’t hesitate, start your blog now!
