“I am so thrilled to have become a part of the wedding industry. There is so much to learn and so much room for self-improvement” Jacquie Swadi says of becoming a certified wedding coordinator after taking the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada course in November 2009. Jacquie loves being a part of the WPIC Association because she loves that there is a group of people to bounce ideas off of or to get advice from. “Everyone in the WPIC community has something wonderful to offer, in so many different ways. We are all unique and bring something different to the table,” says Jacquie of fellow planners of WPIC.
“I love what I do, and I can only hope that the clients I am lucky enough to work with on the most important day of their lives will see this in my work.” ~ Jacquie Swadi
For most of her life, Jacquie has always been the go to girl for planning events and parties. She was always the one to initiate surprise parties or help others with their events. Planning events even became a part of her 15 year Executive Administration career when asked to plan company Christmas parties and social gatherings.
“I’ve been planning different types of events for the last 15 years, but weddings are my true passion. There are different emotions that come with the privilege of helping couples in love plan the happiest day of their lives.” ~ Jacquie Swadi
After taking the WPIC course in November 2009, Jacquie decided to open her own business and make planning other people’s special events her passion. Her daughter Mylie was the inspiration for her company name. “I looked at her and thought how lucky I am to have her, and how sweet she is. I started to think that every day is One Sweet Day with her in my life, and my company was born!” Jacquie is now the proud owner and planner for One Sweet Day (www.one-sweet-day.ca).
“The best thing about it is being able to do something that you love doing and sharing that feeling with so many others” ~ Jacquie Swadi
Along with owning One Sweet Day, Jacquie founded the Pay It Forward mentoring program in May 2010. Pay It Forward features monthly guest speakers to discuss topics of interest with planners (new and old) to the industry. The program provides everyone with the opportunity to grow and strengthen their business by attending meetings that cover all aspects of wedding planning. Jacquie has been doing a fabulous job getting WPIC Alumni together for the past few months since the Pay It Forward program started. The Alumni get together to network, share ideas and learn new business techniques and strategies to better themselves and their businesses.
“I love seeing others benefit from the experience that planners are willing to share with people looking to grow within the industry. With the ever growing number of WPIC graduates the Pay it Forward program allows all planners to gain knowledge and confidence by learning from some of the top planners out there.” ~ Jacquie Swadi
Jacquie made it very clear that the best part of her job is feeling the love. She loves seeing the love and happiness in the clients that she works with. Nothing makes her happier than the end result of her client’s gratitude towards the help she has provided over the months of planning their wedding. She loves being able to take their vision and help them create the end result that they have been wanting for so long.
Jacquie has two weddings that were her absolute favourite. Martha and Chris worked with Jacquie for a few months up to their wedding. Martha studies medicine overseas, so her main contact was Martha’s fiancà© Chris. Jacquie loved his sense of humour and always looked forward to meetings, emails and phone calls with him. More recently, Ang and Eddie are remembered by Jacquie as a stunning couple with such honest love for each other.
“Seeing one of my grooms cry when they were taking their vows…it really touched me and made me really emotional!” ~ Jacquie Swadi
Jacquie has had the pleasure to work with so many fellow WPIC Alumni in 2010, all whom have really helped her to make herself and her business better. She has had fabulous guidance from Ophellia McKnight, Jennifer Dobrijevic, Denise Georgiou and Danielle Deebank. Colin Cowie is one of her favourite celebrity planners – whom she will have the pleasure of meeting at the 6th Annual Wedding Professionals Conference in the Bahamas in November. Jacquie also loves Preston Bailey. Seeing the work that they do, gives her hope to dream for bigger, better and more dazzling weddings/events in the future!
“Weddings are very similar to my feelings for my husband. They and him are my destiny, and quite simply…meant to be.” ~ Jacquie Swadi

Jaxx is one of the few people from my class that has stayed in touch with me and we have shared our experiences with each other since taking the class. I am very proud of how well she is doing and looking forward to attending one of the Pay It Forward sessions the next time I am in Toronto.
