Tereza and Gerrit’s African Lion Safari Wedding

Shell Design Weddings is so grateful to have been a part of this wedding. I know that it will go down as one of the most memorable!

As avid travellers, Tereza and Gerrit decided to use one of their favourite travel experiences as the theme to their wedding – an African safari! What a success. The day was filled with events for their guests starting immediately after a lovely church ceremony. From there, the guests loaded a coach bus and were shuttled to the African Lion Safari park. They were greeted by staff and handed a small package with food and bottled water to take on the take on the 45 minute safari tour where they could see everything from monkey's to lions!

When the guests returned from the safari tour, they were taken to the reception tent to enjoy the cocktail hour. The tent was decorated in a gorgeous chic safari theme! The tables were covered with beautiful pin-tucked green linens along with chocolate brown satin chair covers and a tree branch design backdrop elegantly called `The Enchanted Tree'. The details were endless; complete with tables named after an animal that would be seen on an African safari and a brief description. The overall design of this wedding theme was quite easy; however, the challenge was finding the right decor to really bring out the theme properly. Adding “chic” to a safari theme is not the easiest task! We were all so happy with the end result.

Before the guests were seated for dinner, the bride & groom made a grand entrance with an elephant! A group photo was taken for all to enjoy. 

An amazing 5-course African themed meal was served.  

And to top the night off, and to kick start the reception, a full African dance and drumming ensemble performed.

The staff at African Lion Safari was outstanding to work with. Considering this was the first wedding they've held in a tent, while the park was open, the day was seamless. This is a wedding that I will always remember being a part of, and I'm sure their guests are still talking about.
