After Coordinating more than 200 weddings, I can confidently tell you, the memorable weddings are the ones that are personalized to the couple. I can't stand "Cookie-cutter Weddings"! It could be anyone's wedding. Set it up, drape everything in white, insert bride and groom here, "Okay, next couple!"
Did you know that the traditional white wedding dress was simply a Fashion Fad started in 1840 by Queen Victoria? It was! Before Vicky married Albert, royals married in silver, aristocrats married in purple and if someone was wealthy enough to have a wedding dress made for them, it would be in blue, commonfolk just wore their nicest church clothes.
Soo.. do you know what that means? A bride can wear whatever colour she wants to! A white dress does not mean the bride is a virgin! (The length of the veil does, but that's for another time.) Now that we have debunked that old theory, let's look at some coloured wedding dresses.
Adding colour to your wedding dress can be as subtle as a blush of colour, an embroidered embelishment, a sash, or as daring as a bold head-to-toe colour.
Justin Alexander designs some beautiful coloured dresses:
Maggie Sottero has been embracing colour as well, I am in love with the red dress!
Forever Yours has a few coloured dresses:

Check out this patchwork wedding dress from Yves Saint Laurent!
For the couture bride, try Max Chaoul:
Kind of makes a traditional white dress seem boring now, doesn't it?
Now have fun, express yourself and pay no attention to this little diddy:
Married in white, you have chosen all right.
Married in green, ashamed to be seen.
Married in red, you will wish yourself dead.
Married in blue, you will always be true.
Married in yellow, ashamed of your fellow.
Married in black, you will wish yourself back.
Married in pink, your spirits will sink.

I couldn’t agree more that the most memorable weddings are the ones that are personalized. I am a big fan of doing things differently when it comes to your wedding. So go ahead brides…go bold!
PS. I love the red wedding dress as well. I can picture a red dress with a white faux fur shawl for a beautiful Rockies winter wedding!
