Last week the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada held its third Wedding Coordinator Certification Course in The Bahamas. The two prior courses were held in Nassau. For this series, WPIC ventured to the family island of Abaco and held the seminars at the beautiful Abaco Beach Resort.
“WPIC has a history with The Bahamas,” says co-founder Danielle Andrews Sunkel. “We have held our Wedding Professionals International Conference, we’ve brought several wedding professionals to view all that The Bahamas has to offer wedding couples and we have brought weddings here. We’d love nothing better than to see the Bahamas Wedding Industry thrive and flourish.”
WPIC believes that education is the key to that success. The Bahamas series curriculum focusses on both local weddings and destination weddings coming to the islands. Students learn about the expectations of North American couples, international etiquette, popular religions, marketing, best practices, how to operate a successful wedding business and so much more.
Attendees of the course included seasoned wedding professionals continuing their education, as well as those wishing to start their careers with the right foundation. Lesley Pinder of Treisia Eventz and Antoniette Glinton travelled from Nassau, Stephanie Hield of Amazing Affairs, Sherrell Fox of Island Petals, Patrice Cooper of PF Party Rentals, Melinder Pinder of Buds N Blooms, Crystal Tinker of Bahamian Dream Weddings, Julieth Stuart-McCafferty of Abaco Beach Resort, Teneil Major and Michelle Mikula of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism are all local to Abaco. These talented ladies join more than 50 other WPIC certified wedding coordinators operating throughout the islands of Bahamas.
