The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada always has Chris Chernoff speak to our students in our Vancouver classes, about working with a photographer. The students love him, the instructors adore him, and we highly recommend him to couples.
Chris Chernoff began photographing weddings at the age of 16, working with his father on wedding assignments and creating his own style of capturing unique emotions & details. "I feel very lucky to have grown up in an environment that encouraged creativity and passion for photography. I was able to progress as a photographer and really appreciate each couples' commitment to each other, the emotions they felt, and their excitement for the road ahead." Chernoff now owns a company that is built on a foundation of professional service and focuses on an unobtrusive approach to wedding photography.
What do you enjoy most about photography?
I really like the concept of freezing time in an image. Photography is such a captivating medium and a great way to mark and document the milestones in our lives. With weddings I love being involved in such a great celebration. Everyone is happy and it is a warm environment to be working in. I always joke that "I have the best office in the world".
What type of personalities do you work best with (Client or Coordinator)?
I really enjoy having a coordinator on site with me and always recommend it to brides that book us. I always remember planners that are well organized with timelines, prepared for "curve balls", and keep cool if things get off track a bit. If the bride and everyone around her is calm and relaxed it makes the photography and entire day fun and seamless.
What advice can you give to Wedding Coordinators, in relation to working with you and the couple? What would make things work better?
A good understanding and planning of the timeline throughout the day is always appreciated. Keeping everyone on track as far as makeup, transportation between locations, parking for photo shoots communicating with other vendors throughout the day etc. It is all of these little things that can really go unnoticed but make a bit difference in the timing and execution of the day.
