I remember when my husband proposed to me…So sweet and we both cried happily after I said an emphatic “yes”. But wait…we’re not done there. It was in our car, and my sister was in the back seat. Yup. Truly. This is after we went store to store, looking for the perfect ring that I had selected, LOL!
We hear stories all of the time of girlfriends leaving magazines lying around, open with sticky tabs to the ring of their dreams. Cutting out a photo and sticking in on the fridge so it can’t be missed. Have we gone to far? Perhaps.
Then there are the beautiful and romantic stories of couples planning elaborate proposals like the one of WPIC Alumni, Maria Badian, who was proposed to at the Eiffel Tower.
Others hire a Planner to arrange something out of this world for the proposal. (Yes, you read this right.) For the last several years, some coordinators have offered services for just this type of event.
Look at this romantic proposal from Timothy Law that he planned all on his own. This all happened on March 2, 2013 in Lions Bay, B.C. The words he wrote and said leading up to the big day were so incredibly sweet and romantic. We wish you and Julia much love and happiness together.

My Husband proposed while on vacation at Sandals LaToc in St. Lucia. Over a sunset, seaside candlelit dinner on the beach, set just for two. Sounds dreamy right? Everyone wonders how I never saw that coming…
Well… Prior to our vacation he had found this ring in a magazine and showed it to me and instantly fell in love, It just so happened to be at a local store and every now and again I’d mention to him how great it looked on my, what I like to call my man hands. And that the lady also told me there wouldn’t be another like it, it had been a limited edition Valentines Special. He’d only ever say “Oh yes? That’s very neat …in time honey, I promise”
Every time I was in the mall Id take a quick detour to have a quick look at it. It was beautiful! I went in one day to window shop again (ok, there was a sale on) only to find out that it had been sold. What a let down! I had gone home so disappointed and wondering who would possibly have that ring and wondering how Id ever find one as perfect as that one. Its not fun being picky by the way..
After making a such a fuss and later having him make fun of my disappointment with all of our friends and family (which I admit, I did deserve it) everyone knew our story well, and it happened to come up in conversation often.
While at our dreamy sun set candlelit dinner (which I had booked prior to our vacation, as a birthday gift for him). The resort’s photographer arrived to take a few pictures to capture our memorable evening. This wasn’t out of the norm, we had noticed him all day capturing pictures of all of the guests so I wasn’t at all suspicious. We took a few pictures here and there and the photographer said “Lets go get one more over here and then I’ll leave you to enjoy your dinner.” So I followed the photographer, realizing that I alone, was the only one following him. I turned around to find him knelt down on one knee and me being the idiot ask “what are you doing, what did you lose? here let me help” and looking closely all over the sand assuming he had dropped something.. He whipped out this box that looked VERY familiar. It was identical to the one at the store with that ring. He opened the box and there it was… The Ring!
I couldn’t believe it, all I could do was laugh and stare at him wondering how he kept it a secret all this time, and when I could finally speak all I said was “I’m so humiliated, I cant believe you’ve had this all along” He just nodded at me, probably wondering where I was going with this. Then realizing he was still on his knee and I hadn’t officially given him an answer I said “Yes of course! …and let me see that ring!”
It was perfect in its own way.
Sunset, candlelit dinner for two, photos of the whole experience and of course saying YES!. We couldn’t have had it more perfect.
The best part is, On our wedding day our best man (my brother in law) decided he’d like to share our story with all of our wedding guests as a part of his speech. So those who didn’t know the story have now been well informed of how it all went down.
