There are a lot of great wedding business courses and coaches out there. We happen to know an incredible wedding planner/coordinator certification course, or two… 🙂
However, there are loads of things that can only be learned by doing, and that comes with experience over time. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Allow yourself and your business to grow, and be open to advice and tips from those that you admire from all walks of life. There is actually a ton of great advice out there (for those that are willing to listen to it) that can help you on your path to success. #neverstoplearning
Below are some things that successful professionals will NOT do:
- Make Excuses. Own up to your mistakes. Apologize and correct the error. If you don’t know the answer to something, let your clients know that you will get back to them with the correct response.
- Let Failure Stop Them. They don’t give up when the going gets tough. They learn from their mistakes and do better. No one starts out as an expert. The best lessons are learned from challenges.
- Go Against Their Ethics. There’s really no going back from this. The best of the best stand for something. Respect yourself and others in the industry. Your values are what define you. Here is where you can view the WPIC Code of Ethics.
- Never Think About the Future. Short-term solutions are not the answer to a long and happy career. Sometimes it’s worth spending more to make more. Will it help you in 2 years, 5 years or 10? Invest in the key things you need to succeed. A proper website, advertising in the right places, marketing to the couples that you want to attract, getting educated, networking, purchasing quality office equipment, and so on.
- Constantly Compare Themselves to Others. Stop it! Nothing shakes your confidence more than thinking that you are not good enough, or not ready to step into the limelight. It’s great to see what others are doing but when it starts making you feel badly about yourself and your business successes, it’s time to shift your focus on being a better business and a better you. Acknowledge your weaknesses and work on them, or hire someone who can help you with that particular challenge. (Hire a PR firm to promote your company and get you some media attention. Pay someone to manage your social media. Despise doing bookkeeping? You get the idea, hire someone who specializes in it.)
