Tell us about your wedding planning business. How did you start and when? What is your niche?
Lindsay Plank Events was born from a lifelong love of design and storytelling. Even as a young girl, I was drawn to the magic of transforming spaces and creating meaningful moments. My passion for crafting weddings that feel deeply personal, effortlessly elegant, and truly unforgettable led me to officially launch LPE over a decade ago, on February 15, 2015.
During my time at Mohawk College for Travel and Tourism, my teacher, Shelley, noticed my knack for organization and the joy I found in assisting the Event Management program with planning projects. She encouraged me to explore the extended program, which became a pivotal moment in my journey. Through placements and internships, I discovered my love for wedding planning, ultimately leading me to create LPE and embark on my own adventure in the industry.
Within my Event Management program, I took a wedding planning course that sparked my interest and led me to discover WPIC in 2015. After graduating, I pursued further education and earned my WPIC Certification in April 2016, marking the moment I decided to take my wedding planning career seriously.
I specialize in timeless and romantic wedding design, working closely with couples who value refined details, intentional storytelling, and a seamless guest experience. My signature aesthetic blends soft textures, warm lighting, and carefully curated elements to create a wedding day that feels uniquely personal.
One of my greatest joys is curating weddings on private properties, particularly tented weddings. I love the creative freedom of transforming blank spaces into breathtaking, one-of-a-kind settings that reflect each couple’s love story.
At LPE, my goal is simple: to make wedding planning an exciting, enjoyable journey while bringing your dream day to life in the most thoughtful, elegant way possible.

What have been the biggest challenges you have overcome in the last 10 years?
Like many entrepreneurs, imposter syndrome was a challenge in the early years. There’s a moment when you realize you’re not just planning weddings—you’re running a business. Learning to trust my expertise, set boundaries, and own my place in this industry was a journey, but one that has made me a stronger planner.
In 2021, I decided to take LPE to the next level, transitioning into a full-time career after leaving my job in 2020. I sought guidance from KJ & Co., working with Krista to refine my brand, define my ideal client, and elevate my business. Through that process, I found my true passion: wedding design. This focus allowed me to shape LPE into what it is today—a personalized planning and design company dedicated to curating sophisticated, timeless celebrations.
Building a trusted network was also key. The right vendor partnerships make all the difference in executing a flawless event. Over time, I’ve cultivated relationships with incredible professionals who share my commitment to excellence, and that has been invaluable. This allowed my couples to be fully present during their wedding days, knowing LPE curated a team of professionals they can trust.
Business systems were another hurdle—figuring out what worked best for my workflow, a planning process, streamlining client communication, and ensuring that every detail was accounted for. Now, with structured processes in place, I can guide couples seamlessly through the planning journey.

Words of wisdom, or how did you decide on your niche?
Your niche often finds you. I started with a broad approach but quickly realized that my heart was in weddings with a timeless, romantic aesthetic. When I first started, I was booking anything that came my way, and didn’t allow me to truly put my best foot forward. Over time, I learned I was drawn to couples who valued design as much as the experience itself—those who wanted a celebration that felt elevated yet deeply personal.
My advice? Follow what lights you up. Pay attention to the weddings that excite you the most, the designs that feel most *you*, and the moments that make you the happiest. That’s where your niche is waiting.

Tell us some of your favourite planning moments with examples.
At Lindsay Plank Events, every wedding is a unique story, and I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of so many unforgettable moments. Over the years, there have been weddings that have truly stood out—whether because of the heartfelt details, the creative challenges, or the pure magic of the day. Some of my favourite moments aren’t just about the design—it’s about the emotions they create.

D+N’s intimate wedding at Cave Spring Vineyard – The mix of end-of-summer and fall tones, the vineyard views, and the thoughtful florals created such a warm and romantic setting. Seeing the couple take in their beautifully set dinner table for 20 with their closest family was pure magic.
A Surprise Fireworks Display for the Couple: One of my favourite wedding moments was when we secretly arranged a fireworks display as a surprise for the couple. The groom’s parents wanted to create a once-in-a-lifetime moment, so we worked discreetly behind the scenes to make it happen. When the sky lit up during their first dance under the stars, it was a breathtaking moment that made all the planning and coordination so worth it!
Transforming a Private Property into a Dream Venue: One of my specialties—and biggest passions—is curating tented weddings on private properties. I’ll never forget working with a couple who wanted to get married at their family estate, a space that had never hosted a wedding before. We brought in everything from a stunning sailcloth tent and elegant lighting to custom flooring and an open-air lounge under the stars. Seeing the space transform into a luxurious, romantic setting while maintaining the couple’s personal connection to the property was incredibly rewarding.
The Bride’s Lily of the Valley Bouquet in Honour of Her Grandmother: One of the most sentimental moments I’ve been a part of was designing a bridal bouquet featuring Lily of the Valley as a tribute to the bride’s late grandmother. This flower held deep meaning in her family, and ensuring it was not only included but also the star of her bouquet made the moment even more special.
A Ceremony Backdrop That Became a Stunning Sweetheart Table Installation: For one couple, we designed a large, hanging floral installation to serve as the focal point of their ceremony. Instead of letting it go to waste after the vows, we repurposed it to hang over their sweetheart table at dinner, creating an intimate and romantic ambiance. The florals also became a gorgeous element in their live wedding painting, making it a lasting piece of their wedding story.
Every wedding I plan holds a special place in my heart, and it’s these moments of love, beauty, and connection that inspire me to continue crafting unforgettable celebrations. Whether it’s a surprise element, a sentimental tribute, or a breathtaking transformation, I love creating experiences that couples and their guests will cherish forever.
