WPIC Welcomes Palace Resorts

On June 14-18/2010, WPIC was invited to Palace Resorts in Mexico to certify 26 onsite Wedding Coordinators.  The 26 Palace Wedding Coordinators travelled across Mexico from different Palace resort locations to attend the 3-Day training seminar taught by Monica Hill, WPIC Instructor and Dulce Avila, WPIC Instructor. The 3-day training session was hosted by Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The trip was arranged by Juan Carlos Calderon, Regional, Director of Sales of Palace Resorts.

The training session really emphasized expectations of North American clientele so that the Palace onsite wedding coordinators can better understand the North American market. Topics also included a complete overview of the Various Roles of a Wedding Coordinator, Professionalism, How to Increase Wedding & Special Events revenue, Marketing and  extensive discussions on Attracting the Destination Wedding Market, along with many more wedding related topics.

 

In turn, we also had the opportunity to learn more about Mexican wedding traditions and customs along with legal requirements of marriage in Mexico; such as required blood tests and residency requirements in order to be married in Mexico. 

 

These are some interesting facts about marriage requirements in Mexico:

· You must be a resident of Mexico for 3 days before a civil or religious ceremony

· You are required to take a blood test to determine blood type and test for HIV, Syphilis, and Gonorrhea.

· If you have been divorced for less than 1 year, you are required to take a pregnancy test.  If this test comes back positive, you are unable to get married in Mexico.
