Danielle and I were in NYC last weekend for The Wedding Party New York, which is put on by Claudia Hanlin’s The Wedding Library and Martha Stewart Weddings. We have 3 or 4 blogs out of this trip but will start with the actual reason we went, LOL!
We stayed at the beautiful New York Palace which is where the Wedding Party NY took place on Sunday, January 29th. We were so impressed with the staff, especially George, the awesome bellman. We checked in and were automatically given a room upgrade to the 38th floor with an impressive view of the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Way to make an impression, guys!
We started the day with Starbucks (of course) and registered for the event. What a surprise when we got there! Close to 700 people were in attendance, and they all got there when we did, arghhh! Good thing we had VIP tickets!
We went right inside the ballroom to hear Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings give inspiration and a trend report for 2012. Then we heard from the expert panel: Celebrity Event Designer Mindy Weiss, Couture Bridal and Eveningwear Designer Amsale Aberra, Caterer to the Stars: Peter Callahan, Design Guru: Matthew Robbins, Cake Star: Sylvia Weinstock. I really wish we had more time to hear advice and tips from this fabulous panel!
We then went into the masses for the tradeshow… There were over 100 vendors who had some wonderful booths and products.
Beautiful booth & registry at Nordstrom
Marcia Seldon Catering and Event Planning had a beautiful vegetable presentation and were so great to speak with, too!
Stunning henna-inspired designer cakes by Creme Delicious
*WPIC Alumni, Christina Frizzell of Sweet Bliss Weddings won one of these beauties in the draw!
Okamoto Studio NYC created this awesome ice sculpture for the wine tasting. Yes, that is a floral bouquet in the ice!
Wonderful Brooklyn Noir wine for the tasting…
Elan Artists Showcase was the entertainment. They were incredible! We didn’t want to leave! Great voices, energy and choice of songs.
3 fab food trucks were in the courtyard at lunchtime to sample their deliciousness, we did! Frites & Meats had double fried fries and hamburgers, Gorilla Cheese had grilled cheese and Eddie’s Pizza Truck had pizza with fresh basil.
Check back next week for our blog on Kleinfeld’s Fashion Show. It was amazing!
