Tulle is a probably the most versatile material used to decorate weddings, and it’s so affordable! It comes in every color and it is available in many different lengths and precut shapes. Tulle is simply a light weight sheer fabric with tiny holes, similar to netting but not quite as stiff. You can pick it up at your local fabric or craft stores. Here are some ideas on how you can incorporate tulle into different aspects of your big day:
Attire:
- Use as blusher for veils or hats
- Wrap tulle around a plain headband for a pretty headpiece at a casual wedding
Florals:
- Pretty wedding bouquet
- Accent floral arrangements –use it as filler in your centerpieces
- Use as an accent or filler for your bouquet
- Wrap around the stem of your bouquet for a pretty touch
- Use as a base or filler for the boutonnieres
- Use as an accent for corsages Pre-ceremony:
- Wrap around banisters and decorate the outside of the bride’s home
- Use to decorate the getaway car
- Tulle swags at wedding ceremony
- Use for swags to close off pews at the ceremony
- Design bows for pew markers out of tulle
- Fill or decorate the flower girl’s basket
- Tie the rings to the ring bearer’s pillow using tulle
- Wrap around paper cones to hold flower petals which can be thrown instead of rice or confetti as the bride and groom exit, however if you are using rice you can also design small bags out of tulle!
The Reception:
- Wedding chair ties made from tulle
- Tie around vases for a unique centerpiece idea
- Decorate the bride and grooms chairs
- Use to make swags along tables, railings and doorways

- Use as table runners

- Package wedding favors by making small bags out of tulle and tie with a ribbon
- Use as filler in gift bags instead of tissue paper
- Bunch some tulle around the bottom of the wedding cake for added decoration
Tulle can look amazing as long as it’s used in moderation. Just because tulle has a million uses doesn’t mean you should design your entire wedding out of it! However if you are looking to save a few dollars on decorating, pick a few ideas out of this list to incorporate into your wedding.
Happy planning!
