It’s kind of hard not to notice that WPIC has a real love of Mexico, right? The people, the food, the customer service, the amenities, etc.
WPIC is a proud supporter of all of the Destination Boot Camps and Love Mexico programs produced by the wonderful duo, Kitzia Morales and Minty Castillo of Mexico Romantico. For the past several years, we have strongly encouraged our WPIC Alumni to invest and attend these conferences, to grow their skills and knowledge of working Destination Weddings in Mexico. It is the perfect balance of learning, fun and hands-on experiences to bring home and share with your couples.
December 6th-9th, 2013, Danielle and I were at Live Aqua for Cancun Destination Boot Camp. (This was one of the resorts on my Mexico bucket-list to experience. I’ve only got about 174 more…) Our opening dinner was on the beach and it was amazing!

This incredible display was made out of coloured rice! Everyone had to walk past this to get to the beach welcome party and dinner.
Live Aqua is known for it’s water appreciation, and what better way to stand out from the crowd with a wedding ceremony, then to have it in the pool. This is a mock wedding ceremony.
Three days of learning. This year the program was divided between Wedding Planners and Travel Agents. Next year it would be great to have people choose the track that they are interested in attending. (It’s amazing what you can learn on the flip-side of things.) I really enjoyed several of the seminars, and took tons of notes. Some of the topics were: Presentations of Cancun by the CVB, “Building Your Destination Wedding Planning Business” by Harmony Walton of The Bridal Bar, “Pricing Your Destination Wedding Services” by Linnyette Richardson-Hall of Premiere Event Management, “Contracts & Agreements” by Katy Carrier of Carrier & Associates, “Conversational Spanish for Wedding Professionals”, “Millenium Brides” by Jeff Hendlin, VP of Bridal Guide, and “The Vendor/Planner Marriage” panel, moderated by Tracy French of The French Connection.
Of course, here are the back of our heads 😉
We headed out in the evening to experience nightlife at Hard Rock Cancun. The bartenders had a great show for us and then we saw some wedding set ups. I even was able to try the Fender Guitar service available to each and every guest in their rooms!!! (Sound of Your Stay program.)
The highlights of this Conference for me were connecting with fellow travel and wedding professionals, seeing some great wedding and table setups, and the day trip to Capitan Dulche.
The following set ups were from our amazing surf and turf lunch and presentation at Condesa Cancun Hotel.
These gorgeous set ups were from our site inspection also at Condesa Cancun Hotel.
From here the travel agents and wedding planners split up for two different site inspections. We were thrilled that we were able to experience Capitan Dulche on the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres. We took the leisurely way over which was a 45 minute boat ride. They do have the express route which takes just 15 minutes. This is a beautiful place to have a wedding and some down time. There are several hotels on the island to stay and play.

The closing dinner and special recognition were at the beautiful Fiesta Americana Coral Beach. We were so happy to each receive a certificate recognition for WPIC, which is now hanging in my office, and a bottle of XTABENTUN (licor of Anise). Here is Danielle’s:
Thank you to Kitzia, Minty and the entire Mexico Romantico team for allowing us to participate, and showing us more of what Mexico has to offer our couples.
