Can you share a bit about your journey into the wedding and event planning industry?
This business has grown out of a lifetime of either planning or helping with the coordination of events for family and friends. I was that person who everyone defaulted to when it came to planning and coordinating birthday parties, milestone celebrations and weddings. I planned my own 700 guests wedding remotely from a different continent and it turned out truly amazing.
In 2015 I was looking to start a side hustle and my husband suggested event planning but I didn’t think anyone would pay for the service. After much thought, I decided to do it afraid in 2016 and that is how Moevents was born.
My educational background, Sociology and Human Resources Management prepared me for a seamless transition into the wedding industry. I love to meet and connect with people of diverse personalities. Providing exceptional client experience is a skill I have mastered from having a career of over 15 years in human resources.

Experience & Challenges
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a wedding planner, and how did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges I had to overcome was building trusted partnerships with vendors in my local industry. When I started off the business, I worked with vendors based on word of mouth and some have become trusted partners while others have fallen along the way.I took the time to get to know the vendors that I enjoyed working with, the ones that understood how I worked and who delivered excellent service at all times. I invested in building meaningful & trusting relationships with them over time and this has made my job easier.

Trends & Industry Insights
How do you help couples bring their vision to life while staying within budget?
I typically start with establishing a realistic budget and breaking it down, ensuring we figure out what is important to them. Making sure we reassess as we go along to ensure we keep within budget. Once we know what is important/what they don’t mind splurging on, we figure out areas we can go cheap on. Then I suggest vendors within their budget and if they really want something outside their budget we evaluate to see what accommodating that translates to.
